Atmosphere

Terrorplex possesses a gloominess through the rural-like grounds that almost feels like impending doom. This of course is the perfect feeling to get you started in the haunt season, and sets the mood for a scary experience to come.

Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan

Haunted Egyptian Temple of Anubis was a huge disappointment for us. We did not notice any real improvements, and the one prop we thought was new, the owner told us it was actually there last year. Many of our favorite details we loved so much the first time we saw this haunt were damaged and not repaired. For instance, the Temple of Anubis used to have some great wall textures made from carpet padding that was painted over to look and feel like the insides of a cave. Many places the wall coverings were gone, and replaced with plain burlap tacked up to cover holes in the walls. There is some really cool stuff to see in this place, including AWESOME Hellraiser themed props, but all we have seen before. I really miss the great wall coverings that used to be there, though. And overall, it just does not look like much was done to repair and restore the damages from previous years. The Temple now appears to be falling apart, and it simply does not grasp the theme as well when the bare black walls are exposed through quick-fix tacking. Like I have said before- we like to see changes, improvements, and big builds from year to year. Keeping the same everything and not repairing damages is not going to impress us one bit.

Live Actors (Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes)

Temple of Anubis had a few good characters, but the haunt lacked our favorite character from the first year – the extremely tall, extremely intimidating, Nico. The remaining small staff should still make you jump at least once or twice, because they do have great timing and hiding places. However, there is still some room for improvement and more actors. I would have preferred a more realistic Pinhead to match the very cool Hellraiser props, but the actor in place was only “okay” and was topped off with a not-so-authentic looking mask. I understand that Pinhead is a very difficult character to pull off make-up wise, but we have seen better attempts. Overall, they did all right, but there was still a sense of lacking.

Admission Price vs. Length (Entertainment Value)

Comparatively priced, your haunt minutes per dollar are appropriately placed and fair for the many sites and experiences available at Terrorplex.

Overall Experience/Summary/Misc. Information:

The Temple of Anubis seems to have scaled down in quality, but still has some VERY cool props that are a must see.
