The Dungeon of Doom is located at the Arlington Museum of Art and is sponsored by the Arlington Star Telegram. Dungeon of Doom is currently in its 16th year of operation and it’s the 3rd time that we’ve had the opportunity to review them. The Dungeon of Doom has never let us down in the past… Would 2004 be any different?

As soon as you enter you are led down into the basement of the museum where you are met by a mysterious hooded man who shows you the entrance into the Dungeon. This is where the attention to detail begins that goes into the Dungeon of Doom. Each scene has been paid special attention to and it really shows how much Kay, Milton and their actors take pride in providing quality entertainment. It’s really a shame that most people run through haunted houses instead of taking the time to enjoy and appreciate the work that goes into such a production. One specific scene that really stands out is based on the Wizard of Oz, complete with Dorothy, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and the flying monkeys. This one scene really sums up the attention to detail that has been put into this haunted house.

Sometimes special effects can really add or take a way from a haunted attraction. The Dungeon of Doom is just one of those haunts that has no real need for special effects and animatronics. The lack of special effects does not mean that the Dungeon of Doom is not scary. The frights in the Dungeon of Doom are purely based on the actors and their impeccable timing. This really sets this haunted house apart from the others. The quality of the actors in the Dungeon of Doom and the attention to detail that is taken is incredible. The actors are some of the best and most eccentric actors that I’ve seen in a haunted house. Many of the actors have been working in the Dungeon of Doom since it first started back in 1989 and that really shows.

Overall the Dungeon of Doom is definitely one of my personal favorites and this year I was not let down. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk through which is a little on the short side compared to other haunted houses in the area, but for a price of $12.00 combined with a printable $2.00 off admission coupon really makes the Dungeon of Doom one to visit for 2004. Printable coupons can be found at www.dfwhauntedhouses.com and click on Discount Tickets (http://www.dfwhauntedhouses.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7#post7) on the main menu.

The Dungeon of Doom is located at 201 W. Main St. in Downtown Arlington in the Arlington Museum of Art. Visit their site at www.dungeonofdoomtexas.com for more information and to purchase tickets online.
