Lafitte’s Landing is a first year professional haunt, but you would never be able to tell. Built in 45 days by a group of 8 people, it is absolutely unbelieveable how great this haunt is. Located in Wylie, TX of FM 544, this is the only haunted house in this area of town. A little bit of a drive for Fort Worth areas, but perfect for Dallas, Plano, Richardson, Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall, and even Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Irving and midcities. Lafitte’s Landing benefits The Blackland Prairie Playground Foundation, organizing a community-built playground project. Don't let the playground project fool you though... I really do not recommend this haunt for small children. They have rated this a PG-13 haunt, but I personally know of some adults that would not be able to handle it.

Scare Factor: 9 out of 10
I think my co-reviewer jumped more than I did, but the point is that WE BOTH got scared and WE BOTH jumped.. since we are not the easily scared, this is a great accomplishment. There are classic scare tactics, and then some very unique and imaginative ways where this haunt really shines. I can't give away too much details though! Go see for yourself.

Set design / Props / FX: 10 out of 10
I still can not believe that this place was built in 45 days. I imagine the crew did not sleep most of that time. The detail sprays across every single space throughout, and I personally cannot see how they managed to do this, FIRST YEAR, and so quickly.

I do not want to give away too much, but I must comment on one of the best special effects we've seen in all DFW area... the bottomless pit... granted, I knew it was just a special effect, but it was so alarming to me that it took me well over a minute to build up the courage to pass. It probably affected me more because I am so afriad of heights, but still it is amazing how a simple effect can be so effective. My co-reviewer is NOT afraid of heights and was still taken back a bit.

There is so much hard work put into this haunt, but I really don't want to spoil anything by telling you about it. I highly recommend checking it out if you are anywhere near the Dallas area. And if you don't mind driving from Fort Worth areas, you should check these guys out too!

Live Actors: 9 out of 10
The talent begins before you enter with a couple of hecklers watching you from the balcony. Once inside, you would think that these guys have been in the haunt business for a while. Jaw dropping that almost all of the volunteers have little or no experience at all. But did we notice? NO! We can't say "unexperienced" actors anymore, because even without experience, these guys do a GREAT job. Good timing, good character developement, and even those without a developed act still provided classic haunt entertainment.

Animatronics: 9 out of 10
The animatronics in Lafitte’s Landing are custom built by Lafitte’s Landing. That in itself is impressive. I like that they did not OVER use the animatronics, and the ones used were done in an effective way so that it was not too predictable.

Length: 8 out of 10
Approx. 15-20 minutes, this is WELL WORTH the money. I left wanting more because it was GOOD... not because it wasn't enough.

Summary:
OMG! First year, REALLY? Take a look around when you go to this haunt. If you think you could do better in 45 days with a 8 man crew, PLEASE let us know and we will put you down in the DFWHauntedhouses.com book of records. This is the best first year haunt we have ever seen. In fact, it is better than many haunts that have been doing this for years.
