Reindeer Manor is located in Red Oak, Texas off of Houston School Road from Bear Creek Drive. The drive up to Reindeer Manor is by far one of my favorite drives to any haunted house. Reindeer Manor is quite possibly one of the most unique haunted attractions in the area… If you’ve been to Reindeer Manor before, then you’ve never visited a haunted house like this. Unlike any other haunted houses, at Reindeer Manor you may become part of the show. They are not kidding when they post signs that their actors MAY touch you and you will experience the haunt instead of just watching it.

Scare Factor: 8 out of 10
Reindeer Manor isn’t your typical haunted house… Each scene contains a speaking part which leads up to the scare. Some are predictable while others are not so predictable. The not so predictable ones are the ones that really make you jump.

Set design / Props / FX: 9 out of 10
Reindeer Manor has some of the most interesting scenes ever seen in a haunted house in this area before. Several of their scenes are very detailed while others give you a different perspective. One room (which really stands out) allows you to watch an operation on a live girl. You are outside the room peering in between horizontal slots carefully spaced in the wooden walls. Also, the rocking pirate ship is a whole room that is balanced on a central beam with actuators that move the room from side to side. It’s really difficult to tell that it’s a pirate ship until you have exited the smoke filled room. Overall the set design, props, and special effects in Reindeer Manor are some of the best ones that we’ve seen in a haunted house. And the pyro… oh yeah… FIRE! FIRE! FIRE! Fire inside the water too? Oh yes, and so much more.

Live Actors: 8 out of 10
Over the off season Reindeer Manor invited Actor Chuck Williams to give an actors workshop. This work shop has definitely paid off for the actors of Reindeer Manor. Over the past few years this was one of their downfalls, but things have changed for the better. This year’s actors are by far the best actors that we’ve ever seen at Reindeer Manor.

Animatronics: N/A
Reindeer Manor does not use any animatronics.

Length:
It takes approximately 45 minutes to visit the home of James Sharp. During that time you are treated to one of the most unique haunted attractions in the area.

Summary:
There is just something about Reindeer Manor that is special. Perhaps it’s because it’s more of a theatrical show then it is a haunted house. Reindeer Manor is unlike any haunted house that you’ve ever been to. The special effects they use mixed with live actors with speaking parts really make Reindeer Manor worth the drive. This year they have a midway area with vendors, bounce house and several other attractions. Make sure that you catch the rooftop and graveyard shows in front of Reindeer Manor. While you are at Reindeer Manor then you will also want to check out 13th Street Morgue (http://www.dfwhauntedhouses.com/modules.php?name=13th) which is another excellent haunt. Read our review for the 13th Street Morgue for more information. For $20.00 you can purchase a combo ticket that allows entrance into both Reindeer Manor and 13th Street Morgue. If you print out our $2.00 off online coupon (http://www.dfwhauntedhouses.com/coupons/rm_coupon.html) you can get both good haunts for only $15.00 making the drive to Red Oak really worth the fuel costs!
