The Cutting Edge is one of the most well know haunted houses in the area. The Cutting Edge is famous for their dark hallways and hard hitting music. This year they have continued their metroplex tradition. The Cutting Edge is located in a 235,000 square foot meat packing warehouse built in the late 1920’s. This warehouse is located in Downtown Fort Worth at the intersection of I-30, I-35 and Hwy 287. (You will find the entrance on East Lancaster)

Scare Factor: 6 out of 10
While walking through the Cutting Edge there just weren't that many areas to be scared in. The Cutting Edge does an awesome job at getting to the people with Achluophobia, the fear of darkness. If you are afraid of the dark then the Cutting Edge will take a firm grasp of your fear and will never let go.

Set design / Props / FX: 7 out of 10
This is one of the areas that the Cutting Edge would normally score very high in. They have some very creative scenes with several of those scenes being open and having multiple paths through the scene. They have 3 vortex tunnels that lead back to back and give off possibly one of the best physical effects out of any haunted house I've ever been to. This year they added a Clown circus and a very very cool looking skeleton room. I was really impressed with these two rooms. There is also a room that appears to be a train car or possibly a restaurant, this room is awesome but the animatronics in the scene seem to be a obviously out of place and obvious. For the most part the Cutting Edge does an awesome job on their scenes, unfortunately they seem to out more focus on keeping their hallways as dark as possible and that lead to their scenes being way too dark for normal patrons to appreciate. This brings me to the biggest flaw that the Cutting Edge has... many many many many many dark hallways. Between each scene of the Cutting Edge it is padded with what seem to be never ending dark hallways... Another major feature of the Cutting Edge is their famous bubble room. If you have never been in the bubble room then you owe it to yourself to check out just once. It's a strange feeling and you will feel like you are going to suffocate, but thankfully it's not possible. You just may get your mouth washed out for all of the cuss words you've been throwing around while trying to navigate the endless dark hallways. If you have experienced the bubble room then do your self a favor and just bypass it... that is unless you like that kind of thing of course.

Live Actors: 7 out of 10
Over the years the actors have got increasingly better, but this really isn't saying a lot. Most actors just stomp on the ground looking to get a startle, or they will stand in front of you, breathe in your face and try to stare you into a scare. Neither one of these tactics are very scary. That is just more annoying then anything else. Most actors are still wearing the basic black robes and silver porcelain looking masks which get repetitive after the first couple of times seeing them. They have made some improvements as the clowns were a very refreshing look upon entering the Circus scene. Also, the actors playing the clowns seemed to be the most energetic actors in the whole haunted house. On the same note all of the chainsaw actors did a very good job acting and wielding the chainsaws.

Animatronics: 8 out of 10
The cutting Edge has a couple of very notable animatronic characters. The most notable of these is the 15ft T-Rex!

Length: 7 out of 10
It takes approximately 45 minutes to complete the Cutting Edge including the Maze which is located in the middle of the haunt. That is a very very good length and almost makes the Cutting Edge worth the money alone. Unfortunately half of that length is the infamous dark hallways. The maze located in the middle of the haunt adds another 10 minutes* and is PERFECT use of the dark hallways and loud music!

*note: your wait time may vary depending on the line

Summary:
The Cutting Edge has the potential to be the best haunted house in the metroplex. Their loud music and interesting location could make for a very interesting haunted house. There is so much unlocked potential in just the physical features of the building. The buildings features have the possibility of creating an awesome haunted house from the meat hook elevator to the original exhaust fan ducts of the building. The lack of acting, very dark scenes and the endless mazes of dark hallways keep the Cutting Edge from getting higher marks from us.
