Date: Saturday, October 6th

Time: 11:45pm

Visibility/Location:
Just driving up to the parking area begins the awe that is Reindeer Manor. The gargoyles overlook your entrance onto a narrow dirt and gravel road, and all you can see is the dust and brief bursts of flame in the distance. After parking, you get a calm hayride, that is until your arrival at the midway area and ticket booth is announced by the huge explosion coming from the water tower. As you step inside, there are all kinds of games to play and roaming actors to entertain and keep you on your toes. Off to your left is Reindeer Manor and off to the right is the 13th Street Morgue. The 13th Street Morgue is located in the old barn where the hanging of James Sharp took place.

Parking:
Ample free parking is located on the private property of Reindeer Manor, just a hay ride away from the grounds.

Atmosphere/Wait Entertainment: 9
Standing outside of the 13th Street Morgue is actually one of the more eerie places for a haunted house… While waiting in line you hear several radio clips that help tell the story about what had happened inside. Characters from inside (and even other area haunts) will normally show their presence around the outside of the 13th Street Morgue and the nearby Reindeer Manor.

Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan: 10
The 13th Street Morgue was voted DFWHauntedHouses.com Readers Choice Award winner for 2006. One of the great things about the 13th Street Morgue is its impeccable attention to detail and design. The theme of the 13th Street Morgue stays consistent throughout the entire haunt. Everything from the wallpaper on the walls to the cobwebs hanging on old items really gives the feeling that you are walking through someone’s house at times. The haunt contains several real human remains, several old pieces of morgue equipment, and even a real horse skeleton. The design of the 13th Street Morgue uses many of the old barns natural features, everything from the heavy iron window grates to the old hay chutes and elevator are being used in some fashion or another. This year they have increased the length of the haunt and added a much longer graveyard area. This is a very nice addition and helps increase the length of the 13th Street Morgue.

Live Actors/Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes: 8.5
Actors inside the 13th Street Morgue have always been excellent actors. Most of the actors really enjoy doing what they do and their enthusiasm really shows. However, we would love to see more actors and even more actor interaction added. There were a few places inside and out in the graveyard that could have used some more actors, specifically in the expanded graveyard scenes, and the second half of the haunt.

Additional Attractions : 9
Reindeer Manor is one of DFW’s most unique haunted houses and makes the combo ticket an excellent value. Combine 13th Street Morgue with Reindeer Manor & Uncle Stinky’s Playground

Admission Price vs. Length Entertainment Value: 10
The complete walkthrough of the 13th Street Morgue lasts about 13-15 minutes with the new graveyard addition. The standalone price for the 13th Street Morgue is only $8.00, but combine the 13th Street Morgue with the uniqueness of Reindeer Manor and you can get 2 completely different haunt types at one location for $25.00. Print out the coupon and receive $5.00 off the combo pass and see all 3 haunts for only $20.00. Make sure you arrive at Reindeer Manor & 13th Street Morgue early because it gets crowded fast.

Overall Experience/Summary:
The 13th Street Morgue is actually one of my personal favorite haunts in the DFW area… The 13th Street Morgue is one of the only haunts that has a set theme and the theme stays evident throughout. Their attention to detail, their overall eerie atmosphere inside and outside of the haunt, the radio clips that can be heard outside and even the breaking news cast on the old radio inside really adds to the overall feeling of the 13th Street Morgue. The addition to the graveyard is a very welcome addition and adds a couple more minutes onto the length of the 13th Street Morgue. I do feel that another character or two could be added to the graveyard extension and a little more character interaction could be added to make it even better.
