Atmosphere

Outside it doesn’t really feel like you are at a haunted house… but as soon as you walk through the front door, into the ticket booth area, you know you are about to see something great. The areas around the ticket booth and haunt entrance are so well decorated and detailed that you cannot help but wonder what kind of detail is actually inside! As a special bonus, you can see the security camera footage while you wait, and enjoy watching other people get scared inside the haunt.

Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan

It is no big surprise that Eerie Industries created one of the most detailed and beautifully crafted sets over most of the haunts in DFW. We expected to see greatness before we even got there, and we were not disappointed at all. We were so impressed by even the smallest details, and so happy to see Zombie Manor take the time and effort to cover every hall, wall, and complete floor-to-ceiling décor. This type of dedication makes the atmosphere so much more authentic, and this authenticity tugs at the edges of reality. We loved every minute of Zombie Manor, and we know that seasoned haunt goers will appreciate it, too. The smaller space is utilized very well to ensure a longer walk through with plenty of great sites to see. Zombie Manor also has some very creative uses of spandex that we have never seen used so effectively anywhere else.

Live Actors (Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes)

Since the actors are primarily zombies, there is little room for speaking roles. You cannot help but notice the incredible make-up, masks, and costumes, though. Take time to look at each person, their character’s movement and expression, and enjoy the work that goes into their overall appearance. The only thing we did not like was the fact that there were a lot of actors that seemed a little too young to be effective. A pre-pubescent child dressed up and made up into a great Halloween costume simply does not scare me, and I don’t think it would scare many other people, either. Yes, their costume and make up are good, but I half expect them to put their hand out and say “trick or treat”. We would have liked to see older actors throughout, but this just a small pet peeve of ours, and it DID NOT in any way ruin the experience. The young ones still did a great job, as well as the older ones, and we would love to see Zombie Manor again and again.

Admission Price vs. Length (Entertainment Value)

For around 10-12 minutes of haunt, the $15 price tag might seem a little bit high for some people, but I promise it is well worth it. The Zombie Manor takes quality to a high standard, so this price is very fair as far as I am concerned. Besides, we have a $2.00 off printable coupon (http://www.dfwhauntedhouses.com/images/coupons/html/coupon_zombiemanor08.html) available, and that brings the cost down to $13 - and that is an excellent deal, my friends. You owe it to yourself to check these guys out. And please take your time walking through so you can appreciate all the awesome details throughout.

Overall Experience/Summary/Misc. Information

I think Zombie Manor is a must see for 2008. We enjoyed every moment, and we even got scared a couple of times, too. Zombie Manor provides the traditional haunt house feel, with some not-so-traditional tactics to keep you on edge and begging for more. I am confident that Zombie Manor will appeal to many different types of patrons because it is simply THAT GOOD.
