That time of the year is almost upon us. Haunted houses start opening as early as September 13th with the opening of the Cutting Edge! (Cutting Edge notified us that they have pushed back their opening date from Sept 6 to Sept 13th.)
We thought we would take a second to update everyone on the happenings within the DFW Haunted House scene. During the off season there has been some major changes:
Dungeon of Doom closed its doors in Arlington... Fear not our friends! The Dungeon of Doom has become the 3rd haunt located on the grounds of Reindeer Manor, joining the famous Reindeer Manor and 13th Street Morgue and it will replace the stinky Uncle Stinky's Playground.
Nightmare at the Palace of Wax at Ripley's Palace of Wax will not be returning for the 2008 season. However the Mirror Maze from last year is a permanent structure and is open year round. This is definitely something to see anytime of the year!
Phantasm's Halloween Screampark is now known as Terrorplex with 4 haunted houses and the all new Coors Light Beer Garden and the Terrorplex Midway.
Chaos Haunted House, Nightmares, Asylum, and Acres of Fear have all teamed up for 2008 to form the new Texas Scaregrounds.
Speaking of scaregrounds, Dallas Scaregrounds is back with a new re-design for 2008.
The former acting group known amongst haunted houses called the Dark Night Players has created a new haunt in Arlington called Zombie Manor. We are really looking forward to seeing what this new haunt has to offer, but if it is anything like we have known their actors to do then this haunt is going to be one to see.
The Parker House in Lewisville, is also a new haunt for 2008. We currently have very little information on this haunt. We will post more information on this new haunt as we get it!
A couple of last years new haunts, The Haunt House in Caddo Mills and Hatch and Kraven's Slaughterhouse in Sherman are both promising great shows for this season. Last year these haunts were late during our review season, but after seeing what they had we are planning on moving them up in our review schedule. The drive to both of these haunts was well worth the outrageous fuel prices!
Tayman Graveyard located at the old Addamsville Terror Complex has also added a new attraction called the Sinister Swamp.
Of course all of the older and well established haunts are back. The Cutting Edge, Hangman's House of Horrors, Screams, Slaughterhouse, Thrillvania and several more. Check out our 2008 Haunted House listing for complete listings.
DFWHauntedHouses.com is your source for haunted house listings and reviews for the North Texas area. This year we have done some house cleaning and have upgraded our database and added many new features. The site is still being worked on with new things being added daily. We have brought back our Haunt Locator Map - Powered by Google Maps, Discount coupons, contests, and much much much more to come.
Here is to a eventful 2008 haunting season!
