Atmosphere
The outside of The Haunt House is intrinsically decorated on every side of the building, and this perfectly sets the mood for a great haunt experience. I honestly wish more haunts would decorate the outside of their buildings this well! This detail does not stop here, though. The Haunt House consistently keeps their atmosphere inside, too.
Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan
The Haunt House design shines bright through every scene and hallway. Every square inch of this place oozes with detail and creativity. You can tell that the staff takes a great deal of care in making sure quality comes first and foremost, and this quality design makes a huge difference in the overall experience. The Haunt House holds some of our favorite hallway decorations , including the “Slat Hallway” where torn wall paper and sheet rock exposes wooden slats through several holes, all carefully designed to appear naturally worn. The Haunt House has also perfected the art of using pitch black passage ways by including textures along the walls and ceilings. This way, you are not just feeling your way through a plain dark hall, but everything you touch provides a unique sensation of its own. Even their black curtains have a texture that is different from any other haunt we have been to. Best of all, The Haunt House has smooth transitions between their scenes, and sometimes takes you to “another realm” through large holes in the wall or a crawl in the dark.
Live Actors (Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes)
I love the fact that all of the actors within The Haunt House are mature and experienced. This means, we did not see any small children attempting to act. Everyone had great timing, great hiding places, and provided multiple startles. There were also plenty of actors to provide full interaction in every area of the haunt, so you were never left alone. However, there was not a huge sense of character development in the form of scripted lines. But, their costumes and make up fit their roles, and their use of props and weapons seamlessly created an act that was effective, regardless of the lack of spoken lines.
Admission Price vs. Length (Entertainment Value)
Ticket price is only $10 for approximately 10 minutes of walk through time. This awesome price makes The Haunt House a must see. Come on, it is only $10! That is a great deal for all the creative detail and talent you will get to experience and see.
Overall Experience/Summary/Misc. Information
The Haunt House shocked us last year with their greatness as a first year haunt, and now with their second year, they have not disappointed us. They are keeping their dedication focused to detailed scenes and experienced actors, and we could easily see The Haunt House becoming one of the best in the metroplex. This place has already become one of our personal favorites.
And now, we want MORE! The Haunt House does so great with what they have, we want to see it get bigger and longer. Growing bigger without sacrificing quality could easily move the Haunt House into perfect 10 standings. Also, growing bigger could allow The Haunt House to have more midway entertainment, vendors, and possibly additional attractions to appeal to larger crowds looking for more than one attraction to do.
But overall – BRAVO! You guys did a GREAT JOB!
